Tips for Resident Engagement

  1. Be friendly.
  2. Strike up conversation when you see people around the neighborhood.
  3. Make a list of the name and phone numbers of every neighbor on your block.
  4. Visit your neighborhood library for listing of neighborhood activities.
  5. Consider bringing a friend with you when participating in civic activities.
  6. Turn your porch light on.
  7. Pick up litter near your home, even if you didn’t put it there.
  8. Help your neighborhood association or similar group with neighborhood improvement projects.
  9. Know your county, city and state government officials for your neighborhood.
  10. Contact the Mayor’s Action Center, 327-4MAC, for city services.
  11. Locate your health center and community center for emergency resources and share with family, friends & neighbors.
  12. Report crime and nuisances promptly.
  13. Express your neighborhood concerns with community leaders.
  14. Volunteer in your neighborhood school.
