Tips for Resident Engagement
- Be friendly.
- Strike up conversation when you see people around the neighborhood.
- Make a list of the name and phone numbers of every neighbor on your block.
- Visit your neighborhood library for listing of neighborhood activities.
- Consider bringing a friend with you when participating in civic activities.
- Turn your porch light on.
- Pick up litter near your home, even if you didn’t put it there.
- Help your neighborhood association or similar group with neighborhood improvement projects.
- Know your county, city and state government officials for your neighborhood.
- Contact the Mayor’s Action Center, 327-4MAC, for city services.
- Locate your health center and community center for emergency resources and share with family, friends & neighbors.
- Report crime and nuisances promptly.
- Express your neighborhood concerns with community leaders.
- Volunteer in your neighborhood school.
