Resident Engagement and Leadership (REAL) Overview

Residents that are engaged in their neighborhood are more likely connected to resources and make decisions to improve their family and their neighborhood.

One of Making Connections’ central goals is to help as many families as possible move toward participation in collective action. But we also know that families with overwhelming personal needs find it difficult to join with others in addressing larger neighborhood issues. The focus of resident engagement is to provide many opportunities for individual families’ increasing connection to a range of supports while simultaneously providing opportunities for collective action. REAL is designed to train resident leaders.

Key objectives for impact:
1. Enlarge resident engagement into the life of the neighborhood
2. Mobilize residents to others with similar interests/concerns leading to action
3. Link residents to leadership opportunities within their neighborhood
